Report by Moad Edriss,
Group 4

First of all,the two trainers managed the class well. The first session, begun by one of the trainers that he let all the students stand up in order to talk about such a real story by using imagination and he said that the story must be logically connect (coherence),that was by asking the students to do it in turns.they hung papers that related to outcomes in the wall like,(past, present and present perfect). The second duty, was about the main different between, grammar and communicative grammar too.The trainer used various games. The trainer, passed the third activity among the students which is a game with challenging by playing with letters in order to accomplish or extract new -words out of the letters. The letters, were(G.P.O.S, H.Y.T.V,and C.K.L.W).
The trainer, opened course book which is seven grade book and mentioned some out of it based on,explination and grammar as an extra information. The trainer before going to another activityhe asked the students,if they have such games or puzzle in order to,refresh the class by motivating us to not feel bored. He also, used mistake maze to test our attention and how can we deal with it in a smart way.Another activity was about, zero conditional. All these activities were produced in group work and individually by the teachers order.
Unfortunately, the second session was very short to take every single points, this is because of delivery of the certificate that we were about to catch.Anyhow, the second trainer begun also,by various games by using words. The first game was about sounds. The trainer also, used vocabulary games and activities for primary level. We as students also, were asked about true of false in pairs (working to gather)We also, were asked to change one letter to form a new word with pictures. Before the last activity we were asked to match(connect) the places in column 1 with the things in column 2.The last one,was find out the banana, apple, strawberry from the picture down.
To sum up, Id like to say that the two sessions were very interesting and useful for us.We learnt from the todays lesson that we should use various games in the classroom for the students in order to get their attention and to make the class more active to interact.

In this day 30,April,2012 ,we had a workshop by the British council. No one can imagine how much we have benefited from it . It was divided into two sections . The first one was about given instructions by T. Ahmed Al.Kadhi  whereas the second was about starting and finishing  a lesson by T. Mahmood Yahya.
After introducing himself , T. Ahmed has started  his explanation  about giving instructions . We have  identified what makes instructions clear and understandable . We have discussed the lead-in instructions in the classroom . We  have discussed also the benefits of using English in the class. We have learned  how to write instructions on objects. We have worked worksheets about the problems of giving instructions in English , and how to change the unclear ,long instructions to the simple and short ones .We have learned that using gestures is very important factor that helps the teacher to convey instructions .We have practiced these gestures. The most important thing we learned is the rule of any instruction in anywhere which is 'kiss' 'keep your  instruction simple and short'.
The second section was about starting and finishing a lesson by T. Mahmood. We have learned the classroom situation which provide opportunities for practicing English as talking about the weather  ,asking about the absent students ,… etc. We have learned the techniques and the language items that make starting and finishing a lesson create an effective classroom environment .We  have   practiced  on  worksheets   how  can  we  continue   the  dialogue. We  have  also  learned    the   two  types  of  language,  the  functional   and  social.  We  have  practiced   the   starting   and   finishing   a  lesson    and    there    were  some students who performed as observers . Finally we have really got a great benefit about how to start  and finish the lesson ,what is  more is how to deal with the unexpected situation, and how to create  a social context .
Finally , we can say that all the objectives of today's workshop have been achieved exactly as it was planned to it. The trainers  were qualified and well-prepared .They were really very wonderful in their explanation . The trainees were motivated , active , and cooperative . Every trainee has participated with the trainer . All students expressed their thank to the British council to give them this golden opportunity in order to be a good teachers and  leaders in the future.

Report By Sarah Hamoud

The second session had been held on the 30th April at 11:00 in the morning with the attendance of the workshop leader 'Mohammed 'and the trainees, which is about English in the classroom .
Through this topic we worked in groups and discussed about how to start and finish lesson ,ordering the lessen stages and choosing which language which language do we usually use, also how is good to talk through expending the dialogue and using a social language.
Firstly ,we worked in groups and discuss these  questions :
1-How do you start and finish your lessons ?
2-  What do you say to your class at the beginning of a lesson and at the end ?

1-We answered the first part of the question by warming up the students through making Revision about the previous lesson or guessing game which is related to a new lesson .
The second part of the question by ending in a positive note through making a summary of what we have achieved today ,positive or negative evaluation of something  the class has done or doing a task which the class is very likely to succeed in and which will generate feelings  of satisfaction.
2- We answered that at the beginning of a lesson we greet the students and at the and we say goodbye.

The workshop leader stuck a chart on the black board about the aims of starting and finishing a lesson and asked the trainees to fill a gap with suitable answers .
*plan the start and end stages of lessons effectively  .
*select and use language appropriately at start and end stages of lessons
*identify classroom situations which provide opportunities for practicing English .
*reflect on learning and identify areas for further study .
*create an action plan to experiment for learning to take place.

Secondly ,we ordered the lesson stages.
1-greeting the students.
2-taking the register .
3-collecting the homework.
4-disussing a topic ,such as the weekend .
5-beginning the lesson .
6-asking what they liked about the lesson .
7-doing a game at the end.
8-setting homework
9-telling students to put their books away .
10-saying goodbye .

Thirdly ,we discussed which language in the lesson stages do we usually use.
-mainly English?
-a mixture of the two?
-mainly the students' own language L1 ?
-neither.

Then we discussed how the teacher can expand the dialogue with his students ,so that they get a chance to practice using English .

After that we defined a social language that is informal language using for chatting to the class at the beginning or end of a lesson and work in pairs by choosing one of  the topics and chat about it.

Finally ,the workshop leader played a snowing ball game to check the trainees understanding of a lesson .

My impression

Where there is a will there's a way ,and through this impressive Teacher Training course from British Council I determine to dare to try new things ,even  if I am only able to make small changes to start with, that is better than nothing .This course gives me a light after I lose my hope to be a good teacher, and I am going  to  challenge myself and my students to communicate more .
I hope to have another Teacher Training course in near future with new techniques .
At the end ,thank you very much for everything.

They started their work on Monday. They arrived Taiz University at seven o'clock. The trainers divided the students into many groups according to their list names. Our group was the yellow one which was trained by Teacher Abdalhadi Alhaj and Teacher Mohammed Alrumim.
The teachers, Abdalhadi Alhaj and Teacher Mohammed Alrumim, divided the sessions day into two parts. The first one was for two hours and half and it was given by Teacher Abdalhadi Alhaj and also the second part was given by Teacher Mohammed Alrumim for two hours and half as well.
In the first lecture, Teacher Abdalhadi Alhaj introduced himself to students, and Teacher Mohammed Alrumim did so. Then they asked students to do the same. Teacher Abdalhadi Alhaj started his lecture by sitting many rules with sharing ideas with students about how the days sessions are going to be. Teacher Abdalhadi Alhaj asked some students to write those rules on a big paper then he posted that paper on the wall. After that he began his lecture which is about "giving instruction" .The lecture was not only theoretical but also practical. It was really interesting .He  had learnt us many things ,for example, what are instructions, kinds of instructions ,the purpose of giving instructions , how to make clear and understandable instructions and also when do teachers give instructions . Teacher Abdalhadi Alhaj had done that by dividing the class into groups, each group was consisted of nearly six to seven students. The group members were changed from activity to another. That's why the students were so happy and interesting because they had worked with some students for the first time. Teacher Abdalhadi Alhaj with the help of Teacher Mohammed Alrumim had distributed the papers to the groups according to each activity which they were nearly five in the first lecture. Each activity took about five to ten minutes. They were conveyed between individual ,pair works and group works .Finally, Teacher Abdalhadi Alhaj had ended his session by asking these three questions ,"what do you learn from this lecture ,what do you like and what do you dislike. Students answered these questions frankly. Students were so happy and interesting .They had positive reaction and impression toward the first lecture and toward Teacher Abdalhadi Alhaj himself .The first lecture was ended at ten thirty minutes then the students were going out for breakfast which was given by the British Council Group .After that they came back with the second lecture with Teacher Mohammed Alrumim.

Report on the Second Day of Training

First Session
In the second day of this course, students had been trained by teacher Abdulhadi Alhaj and teacher Mohammed Alrumim. The purpose of this workshop was learning about "Correcting errors" and sharing ideas about "Building confidence".
In the beginning, the teachers introduced themselves and asked the students to do so. Then they explained what the students were going to do during this activity. Teacher Abdulhadi began the first session by asking the students to recite some holly Quran. Then he introduced us to the lesson by sticking some papers on the board and asking about the relation between mistakes and correction. The teacher and the students discuss the outcomes of this session. Teacher Abdulhadi set a rule for grouping the class and encouraged the students to work together. Before every activity, he tried to know our background about the topic, so participants shared ideas with the whole class. Students had done many activities about correcting students' serious and trivial mistakes, types of correction, when, what, and how to correct. For each activity there were some papers distributed among the students to discuss them. The teacher usually finished the activity with the first finishers which is good because it encouraged students to be active. The teacher asked the groups about their comments after discussing the activities and shared ideas with the whole class. Close to the end of this session, teacher Abdulhadi divided the class into two groups and made a competition between them in order to   show the students how to correct mistakes in real situations.
At the end of this session both the teacher and the students were satisfied and happy because they felt that they had achieved the aims.

In the beginning, teacher Abdulhadi asked the students to suggest a refreshing activity. Some students responded by asking puzzling questions. Then, teacher Mohammed Alrumim introduced the topic of building confidence in the classroom to the students by discussing the meaning of confidence and by defining the outcomes of this session. Teacher Mohammed also divided the class into groups and encouraged the students to work together. The teacher after that discussed the relation between confidence and lesson planning. Then, students had practised certain activities about what gives confidence, how to develop confidence, and ways to give and ask about opinions or advice for teachers who are nervous in the classroom. The teacher also distributed some papers to the groups to discuss them and set a limited time for the activity. The students also played an interesting game that was named by the teacher "Letters Game" in which students were asked about the advantages and disadvantages of this session to get feedback. Close to the end of this session, the teacher talked to students about language analysis to practise in groups how to analyse language according to form, pronunciation, use, etc. in order to realize the relation between knowledge, well-preparation, and teachers' confidence.
